Observed in the winter for 2024-2025, the rules and policies of CYM Sports became outdated and all aspects required reviewing to realign with our mission and vision for the program. The last meaningful review occurred in-depth in the early 2000’s, and subsequent updates occurred throughout the years until Covid. Due to the growing demand for a more appropriate foundation to our sports ministry and athletics program, we commissioned a review of our handbook to meet the needs of today’s programming.
The by-product of that commissioned review is this provisional handbook.
With many changes, the provisions in this handbook should be carefully looked at and reviewed as some long standing rules have been updated. Many policies have remained the same while some policies also were removed or modernized. We have made necessary additions for preservation, accountability, and growth opportunities while keeping the student-athletes, the children, our top priority. Each commentary has been condensed and interpreted into a code number for reference purposes. This handbook shall serve in a provisional role and will be the guide for the 2025-2026 academic calendar year.
We appreciate the hard work of all individuals that have provided insight from our office and administrators, to coaches and parents in making this impactful change for the future. We have listened and heard you; we see and recognize change is needed; this physical and virtual handbook is the result of those voices and reflections. The following are changes that have occurred over the last 12-month cycle:
UPDATES TO CYM SPORTS HANDBOOK
Volleyball: Beginning in Fall 2025, the usage of Libero in Volleyball is authorized for all senior and varsity volleyball, boys and girls. (As of June, 2025)
Soccer: Beginning in Fall 2026, Co-ed soccer is authorized to dissolve, reforming into Boys’ Soccer for the fall, and Girls’ Soccer for the spring. (As of June, 2025)
Handbook: The CYM Sports Handbook issued for August 1st, 2025 with new coding system; updated. (As of August, 2025)
