Welcome To All
Dear CYM Sports Families, Coaches, Volunteers, Administrators, and Youth,
Welcome to the 2026-2027 CYM Sports competition season! For nearly a century, individuals across the Diocese of Wilmington have gathered on and around the competition field to partake in a unique and one-of-a-kind experience for our community. We are thrilled to have you join us in this legacy, to experience the tradition that has been built in cooperation with over 400,000 participants.
CYM Sports has evolved from the early days of the Catholic Athletic Council and Catholic Youth Organization (CYO). Aligned with the mission of the Office for Catholic Youth, Young Adult and Family Ministry, we collaborate with hundreds-of-thousands to host various events, facilitate leadership and faith-formation opportunities, and promote Christian values through our athletics program. Since 1935, we have led in this development of our youngsters, promoting core values of character, virtue, and community that are brought forth by Catholic principle. Our vision remains unwavering and goes beyond the field of play: prepare the future youth to effectively function in everyday life, using the lessons and teachings instilled to us through the gospels.
“Whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” 1 Corinthians 10:31
For the 2026-2027 campaign, we wrap up several years of transition with finalizing exciting developments and enhancing key components of our program. New faith-inspired opportunities, new sports offerings, and release of a new registration system sets the standard for our program as we learn to grow in an ever-changing and evolving society. Most importantly, we continue to strengthen the foundation of our program through finalization of our provisional handbook, with clear policies and unwavering commitment to safety and well-being of every child.
We ask every participant, whether an athlete, coach, parent, or supporters, to answer the calling and embrace Christ-centered sportsmanship as we go through the calendar year. You can find more outlines of this standard through our Athletic Handbook and at www.cymsports.com. Whether you are Christian or not, parent or volunteer, we can all work together so there is a place for every youth participant within the boundaries of the diocese to be part of this opportunity and to create everlasting memories, friendships, and experiences that will go forth with them into many bright-minded futures.
Please see the Organization & Communication Matrix prior to the start of the season if you have any questions throughout this year’s campaign of who you should communicate with or expect communication from. Restructuring of the Catholic Youth Ministry Office and at local-affiliated programs is on-going, and to find the point of contact within the Communication Matrix, please see Staff Directory.
May this year bring a season filled with focus, growth, and renewal for our young athletes as they experience the love of Christ through you and a higher purpose.
