The following sportsmanship prayer has been selected for 2025-2026, by Most Reverend William E. Koenig, D.D., Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Wilmington.
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the gifts You’ve given me.
Help me to honor You with my body, my attitude, and my effort.
Let me compete with integrity, give my best without pride,
and respect my teammates, coaches and opponents alike.
Keep me safe from harm, and remind me that victory isn’t just in winning,
but in growing character, humility, and perseverance.
Never catch me rejoicing in the adversity of others.
If I know victory, allow me to be happy;
If I am denied, keep me from envy.
Whether I win or lose, may I glorify You in all I do.
